The partners of the Société d'aménagement du Parc des Îles-de-la-Paix

Following the 2023 project, we estimate that approximately 80% of Îles-de-la-Paix will be protected from erosion. There are still important steps to be taken, which we are actively working on. We are very proud of the founders, members, and volunteers, who have been working shoulder to shoulder since 1991 with the government departments to save Îles-de-la-Paix, which have eroded by 50% since the 1960s.

We wish to thank the following for this impressive environmental achievement:

Mr. Hubert Reeves (13 July 1932 – 13 October 2023), an illustrious partner

In 2002, Mrs. Iolande Cadrin-Rossignol made a film on the life of Hubert Reeves, a production of Colette Loumède. The production company was the National Film Board (NFB). In this film, which can be seen on the NFB’s website, we discover Mr. Reeves’ life, including the part spent on the Iles-de-la-Paix. The part of the film shot on the Iles-de-la-Paix begins at the 45th minute of the film.

In April 2008, , the Édition du Seuil published "Hubert Reeves -Je n’aurai pas le temps".  In this work, he speaks of his childhood, his passion for the cosmos, his career, and various important stages in his life. The fourth chapter, titled La maison de Bellevue : « Avez-vous vu le ciel? » (The house at Bellevue: "Have you seen the sky?") tells of his childhood in his maternal grandfather’s house built in 1907 in Léry city. Mr. Reeves dedicates several chapters to this territory he explored, which he called "his favorite islands".

M.Reeves supported our Company since its first projects in 2001 and was always available to collaborate. It was a privilege and a great pleasure to know him. Thank you very much Mr. Reeves.
